Would it not be a good option to let clients know of people that would be willing to travel from outside of the clients area? Such as Detroit to Alabama? As long as the money is good I would forgo the portion of the pay towards a round trip plane ticket, in order to get the job. That way the client has more talent to choose from. The "look" they might be looking for might not necessarily be in their area.
