Five Questions With Caroline S.

Caroline has been in TalentSoup since October 2011. Her Webcomp can be viewed at http://tso.to/vvWaD3. See examples of her work on the Talent @ Work blog. This is part of our Featured Talent series.

Why did you get into the industry?

I always wanted to be a model in high school, but it was a long road to making it a full time career almost ten years later. I got my foot in the door when my sister took some digitals of me when I was 21. I sent them to hundreds of agencies and one finally said yes. I started with Ford models in Atlanta, but their doors closed a year later. Over the next few years, I was in college and modeling part time. I was lucky to book one job every couple of months. My big break didn't come until four years later when I entered and won the Face of Fitness contest and landed the cover of the NOV/DEC 2012 issue of Fitness Magazine. With that national cover in hand and at the age of 26, I started getting noticed again by the bigger agencies and started modeling full-time. A few months later, I shot the cover of Women's Running magazine and an editorial for SELF magazine.

What do you love about the business? What would you change?

The best part about my job is the traveling, meeting new people, and working for some big name companies. This past year I have shot in Key West twice, Hawaii, NYC, St. Maarten, Miami, Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Sea Island, GA, Sarasota, Tampa, Nashville, Minneapolis, and Flagstaff, AZ! If I could change something about the modeling agency, it would be all the wrong information new talent are given about how to get started and what it takes. A lot of time and money are wasted with people who are trying to break into the industry and doing the wrong steps! My advice to them is to seek out a mentor who is successful in the modeling world and ask questions and get real advice from someone with proven success.

How do you stay positive?

It's important to have a good support group around you. This is an easy industry to allow stress to creep in daily. Tell yourself your going to stay positive and whatever is meant to be will happen through hard work. Being thankful for what has already happened helps too!

What's been your favorite shoot?

All of my shoots have been fun and different. My favorite shoot so far has been the St. Maarten resort shoot. Here I spent a week at a resort hanging out with friends (while getting our photo taken) and participating in all the activities that the resort provided like paddle-boarding, swimming in the different pool, relaxing on the beaches. and eating at all the restaurants! Can't complain about that one plus the crew was awesome!

I like how easy TalentSoup is and all the big name companies they work with! I'm looking forward to working with them in 2013!
